The house
About Soft Hour
A café and kitchen on Loudon Street, open from the first coffee to a late plate.

Made with love
Soft Hour began as a coffee counter. The kitchen arrived when regulars started asking what else could be eaten slowly. The name belongs to the part of the afternoon when the room is full and the clock is not the point.
We cook a Kolkata café menu: rolls, chai, a few plates from the tandoor, and dessert that fits in one hand. Nothing is delivered. The table is here.
The room
Seats are close enough to talk and far enough to read. The light stays warm after dusk.
The produce
Fruit, herbs, and dairy come in the morning. If a plate is not on the card, the market did not have it.
The pace
Coffee is pulled when you sit down. The kitchen does not rush a Sunday lunch.
